Color Combo; 3 of 10: Jill

We are going crazy with delight over color combinations.  From simple to dramatic, from bright to light, the hues are sure to tickle your rainbow.

Today I have a tag for you, featuring some of my favorite blues, pinks, oranges, and greens.

To create this tag, I began by die cutting Penny Black 51-139 Butterflies from watercolor paper. I cut it three times.  Once cut, I adhered all three layers together using my Zig Glue Pen and then adhered this thick piece to my tag base, cut from watercolor paper.  I then painted the butterflies and background using my Sakura Koi Field Sketch Box watercolor paints.  Once dry, I added Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gesso, lightly brushing it onto the tag using my fingertip, trying to only apply the gesso to the raised areas of the die.  I mounted this piece to a larger tag shape cut from Penny Black Mix and Match cardstock and embellished with ribbon (Ribbons Unlimited), twine (May Arts), a stamped sentiment (Penny Black), and an additional die cut butterfly (Penny Black).

All stamps and dies by Penny Black: 51-139 Butterflies, 51-132 Flights of Fancy, 30-283 Snippets

Today my color combination is a double scoop of sky blue and fern green.

I thought it would be fun to show how even a simple two-color combo could give a card a big impact.

The simplicity of the colors accentuates the fabulous die cut design.  Extra die cut layers also intensify the dimension and depth.

This card illustrates how the same color combination can be easily used with other designs.

By building positive and negative layers, the design simultaneously has depth and pops.

All stamps, dies and papers are by Penny Black.

To begin my colorful fun, I've used a bright summery color scheme. Oh, and I've used lots of Penny Black Creative Dies...LOTS!

After cutting my Creative Dies from watercolor paper, I painted them using my Sakura Koi Field Sketch Box watercolor paints.  I also painted my background using the same paints.  I assembled my card using dimensional adhesive as I layered the die cut images.

All stamps and dies by Penny Black: 51-146 Gothic Gate, 51-046 Fresh Breeze, 51-043 Dainty, 51-002 Leaves, 51-050 Tweet Things, 30-283 Snippets

Birthday Wishes; 6 of 6: Elizabeth

We are designing birthday wishes.

"Tag" someone on their birthday with a wish.
This little tag with a built-in hanger can either be attached to a gift or used as a focal point on a greeting card.

Two white ATC Inchie Art Squares were used in the construction.  After a square window was cut from the top panel, Turquoise Gem VersaMagic was sponged across the top and then the pattern from Oscillations /Penny Black was stenciled across the front in Wedding Dress Memento Luxe.

To protect the stenciling and add a durable semi-gloss finish, the piece was sprayed with one layer of Krylon matte acrylic coating and two layers of Krylon gloss acrylic coating.

Using the front panel panel as a guide, the window was lightly traced on the back ATC Art Square.  The flower from Flower Sparks/Penny Black was inked in Tangelo and Lilac Posies Memento Ink with the stem being colored with a Bamboo Leaves Memento Marker.

A black sentiment (Snippets/Penny Black) adds a happy wish.

Before the two panels were adhered together, a small notch was carved from the back panel to accommodate the picture hanger.  This allowed the hanger to nestle between the two panels and provide a seamless seal when the pieces were glued together.

(Additional Inchie Art Square inspiration can be found on their blog HERE.)
This concludes our 6-part birthday theme.
We hope you enjoyed all the ideas.
