Featuring Chameleon Pens 2 of 2: Elizabeth

It's always fun to give a new medium a try... join us as we combine Penny Black stamps with Chameleon pens for some creative coloring.

New Markers + Penny Black Stamps = Coloring Fun

Now that is the kind of math that I like!

I thought with all this coloring excitement about to take place it would be appropriate to reach for Penny Black's "Fun Times" stamp.

The Chameleon pens give you so many color tones within one marker not to mention that overlaying colors gives you an even larger palette.

Featuring Chameleon Pens 1 of 2: Jill

It's always fun to give a new medium a try... join us as we combine Penny Black stamps with Chameleon pens for some creative coloring.

So when I knew I had new markers to try, I first had to get out my current favorite floral stamp by Penny Black, 40-508 Gladsome.

For this card I primarily followed the simple Chameleon Color Tones process of using one marker to shade from light to dark.

And then I went a little crazy creating my dotty background. That was seriously too much fun.

With dots on the brain, I continued onto my second card.

I got braver for this one, mixing and matching a several of the pens for my flowers, leaves, and butterflies.

I love the touch of the tangled thread under the butterflies for a little extra texture.

Feathers, Fur, Fins & More, 8 of 8: Elizabeth

It's all about those cute and adorable critters that make us go "Aww".

I have something that has neither feathers, fur nor fins so it is perfect for the "more" portion of of this series.

How about a cute, pink elephant?!

I used the same building structure format to create this dimensional box using a Polaroid die cut as outlined in this post HERE.  The only difference is that I fabricated my open-faced box to be deeper.

The extra depth gave me plenty of room to decorate with garlands of die cut hearts, plant pretty flowers, stamp a sentiment and embellish with lots patterned papers.

All the fun elements of this 3D creation can be found with these links at Penny Black, Inc.:

We hope you enjoyed our Feathers, Fur, Fins & More series!

It's all about those cute and adorable critters that make us go "Aww".

I am "hopping" by today with an Easter place setting idea that could easily be used for a spring party, birthday celebration or a "just because" gift.

The card and/or name place setting was die cut using Penny Black's Pop On A Fold - Royal Swirl.  I just love how the elegant lines of the die cut just flow off the edge of the card.  A little bit of glitter gives it added sparkle.  A recessed rectangular die cut window edged with a Mary Premium Gold Marker allows a name or sentiment to be showcased.

The little treat box is a simple matchbox that I fabricated from cardstock and patterned paper.  The sentiment "thank you for being a great friend" fit perfectly inside for a surprise greeting.

I couldn't resist using another 3D Animal to make this dimensional bunny covered in ultra fine crystal glitter.

You can see all these stamps, dies and patterned papers linked below on Penny Blacks website.

Stay tuned, Jill will be back with the 7th installment of our Feathers, Fur, Fins and More series!

Okay, I have to admit, I'm not normally a fan of REAL fish (why do they gross me out?!) but I can definitely handle them in paper form.
And I especially like fish when I can color them pink!! Heehee! :)  For this card, all of the background papers and die cuts were inked and stamped with a combination of Ranger Archival inks and Distress Inks.  The fish dies were colored with Copic markers and then adhered to "backing" which was inked with Archival and Distress inks. Stamps and dies by Penny Black: 51-314 Fancy Fish, 51-326 Graceful Greenery, 30-417 Delicate Silhouettes, 51-224 Love to Travel

Don't forget to swim on by the Studio soon to see what Elizabeth will be sharing next!

It's all about those cute and adorable critters that make us go "Aww".

Today it is about feathers and fins.
The fins may be obvious, but can you spot the feathers?

If you guessed the feathers were used for the flowing seaweed, you're right!

A re-purposed ribbon spool was perfect for creating the sturdy circular structure for this underwater scene.

I removed the original top and bottom portions of the spool so I could fashion my own front and back pieces.  While the back piece is a solid circular scallop, the front piece was die cut to have a window opening in which a piece of acetate was hidden between layers of patterned paper and cardstock.

The fish were die cut from white cardstock and hand painted with acrylic paints.

Several portions of a feather were die cut from patterned paper, edged with ink and accented with crystal Stickles.  These segments were then adhered on their sides so the soft edges of the feather would appear as seaweed.

A small label stamped then die cut holds an "inspiring" wish.

Today's feathers find themselves in the form of Penny Black's Creative Die, 51-305 Let's Fly.
My card base was inked with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink using an ink blending tool and a foam pad. I then rounded the corners and stamped the herringbone pattern (Penny Black 30-240 Textures) using Rose Madder Archival Ink.  The flowers (Penny Black 40-543 First Blush) were stamped using Ranger Potting Soil Archival Ink onto Canson 140 Lb. Watercolor Paper, and were painted with Distress Reinkers used as watercolors.  Once dry, Vintage Photo Distress Ink was added to the background with an ink blending tool and foam pad.  The sentiment (Penny Black 30-409 Faith) was also stamped with Potting Soil Archival ink. A small green strip of paper was glued to the painted panel and then the entire panel was mounted to the card with dimensional adhesive.  The bird die (Penny Black 51-305 Let's Fly) was inked with Potting Soil Archival ink. Cardstock inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink was added to the back of the bird before adhering it to the card.
