Out & About with Jill: Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist

I'm so excited to announce that today I am...
on the Ellen Hutson blog participating in the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist blogging event.  And for those of you who have found your way here from EH-- welcome!

It's an honor for me to sharing a tag created using this sketch by the talented Lisa Adametz.  (Speaking of, don't forget to head over to the EH blog to see Lisa's incredible tag featuring this same sketch.)
So here's my take featuring Penny Black stamps and dies.
My cute critter (Penny Black 30-447 Hedgy Joy cut with matching die, 51-389 Hedgy Joy Cut Out) was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto watercolor paper and then painted with Sakura Koi watercolors.
To embellish the circular element of this design, I painted the beautiful berries and leaves die (Penny Black 51-373 Berry Branch) with Sakura Koi watercolors.  Once dry, I also added a touch of Memento Bamboo Leaves ink to the leaves using a Tsukineko Jumbo Sponge Dauber.  TIP: To give the leaves even more added dimension, I cut a second set of leaves and glued the painted ones right on top of these creating a double layer/thickness.  It really adds a lot in real life.
Of course, this cute critter needs something to gaze up at, so for this focal point I die cut and layered a bright poinsettia (Penny Black 51-378 Layered Poinsettia).  It was also painted with Sakura Koi watercolors and, once dry, inked with Lilac Posies and Cantaloupe Memento Inks using sponge daubers.
A couple of extra poinsettias were used to embellish the tag.  Additionally, I trimmed the stitched border pieces from panels cut using Penny Black's 51-375 Snowflake Stitch Frame.  The background of the tag was inked with Lilac Posies Memento ink. I just love that shade of pink.  Oh, and the sentiment? It's included in the Hedgy Joy cut out die... a fun little bonus!
Thanks again for stopping by today.  And if you are a new visitor, I hope you'll take a minute to take a look around the "Studio" which I'm proud to share with my talented blogging buddy, Elizabeth Allan. (You can read more about our approach to blogging HERE.)

And don't forget to head on over to the Ellen Hutson CLASSroom blog to join in the fun there and see a complete supply list for my tag!
